How did you come about working with yarn?
What would you say to dudes who are thinking about pursuing crochet?
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend other men take up the hook, if you’re thinking about it you should definitely go for it! I personally find it both extremely satisfying and relaxing, and it also can open doors to conversations and friendships that you wouldn’t think of starting without it. I’m not going to lie though, society does still have some pretty weird attitudes towards the craft of crochet, and those attitudes can be expressed from, and directed at, both men and women. But in my experience I often find that although people are at first a little bit dubious (the amount of times I’ve heard - ‘crochet, isn’t that what granny’s do?’), once they see that you can actually create something with just a hook, yarn and knowledge, they are generally impressed and want to know more. Although some people might think it’s odd that I love crochet so much, it makes me happy, so why should I care what they think!?! Society’s perceptions and opinions change constantly, so do what you love, pick up your hooks and yarn, and get creative!
